It is the Spanish tax agency regulation (Royal Decree 1007/2023) that sets how invoicing software must work.

Every invoice produces a record with a hash chained to the previous one: nothing can be deleted or edited without leaving a trace.

The invoice carries a QR code and the "VERI*FACTU" legend so anyone can check it on the AEAT website.

Records are sent to the tax agency instantly (Verifactu mode) or kept in your system at its disposal (non-Verifactu mode).

It applies to self-employed professionals and companies invoicing with software, except those already on the SII or taxed in the Basque Country and Navarre.
What changes for your clinic?
You can only invoice with compliant software: Excel, Word or the usual templates are no longer valid.
An issued invoice cannot be touched. Mistakes are fixed with a corrective invoice, never by deleting the original.
All your invoices carry the QR code and Verifactu legend, including simplified invoices (receipts).
If you enable submission, the AEAT receives every invoice instantly. There is nothing else for you to do.
Your accountant needs the software to export invoices and their records: ask for it before the deadline.
